Organized by Burkina Faso's Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries, SAMAO 2026 was held under the theme "Governance of Extractive Resources: Geopolitical Challenges and Opportunities for African States."

This year's edition was coupled with the inaugural SEMH-AES (Energy, Mining and Hydrocarbons Week of the Alliance of Sahel States), drawing high-level government delegations from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, as well as major mining companies and investors.

The six-day event featured 21+ panel discussions, B2B meetings, and technical sessions covering mining governance, local content development, and energy sovereignty.
